Mondo® Cambodia XL mushroom cultivation kit.
Years of design and testing have resulted in the new generation of the Mondo® Cambodia XL mushroom growing kit. The Cambodia XL cultivation kit is now even better than ever.
The new generation of Mondo®XL mushroom cultivation kits has the following improvements compared to the first generation:
- Higher yields and more mushrooms.
- More downloads*.
- Υψηλότερη αντοχή στη μόλυνση.
- Different but simpler instructions for use
*Some varieties produce more sprouts than others. The first three washes are the most important.
The new standard for easy to grow kits.
The Mondo® Cambodia XL Magic Mushroom Growing Kit differs slightly from all other grow kits used in the past. The main differences are subtle and almost imperceptible.
As with previous mushroom growing kits and other easy to grow kits, no additional seeds are needed.
During the laboratory process, the spores grow as mycelium on the substrate (dough) of the culture plate.
How is the cultivation kit stored correctly?
You should start the cultivation process immediately. If you decide to start the cultivation later, you can store the culture kit in the refrigerator (between 2°C and 8°C) for up to 2 weeks after the production date. First, store the culture kit in a plastic bag and seal it tightly.
Contents of the kit
- The culture kit contains medium with active mycelium, also called pellets.
- The bag contains micrometric filters to prevent the entry of contaminants.
- A reusable yellow seal is used to close the culture bag.
The following elements are required
- Fogging: humidity levels require fogging.
- Clean water for spraying and wetting.
- Clean environment to avoid contamination by other fungi and bacteria (micro-organisms).
We recommend the use of
- Sterilised latex gloves – one pair
- Face mask
- Softa-Man hand disinfectant – Softa-Man Hand Gel
- Surface disinfectant spray
- Humidity bag
- The digital hygrometer and thermometer have an external sensor.
- Use a heating pad if the ambient temperature drops below 18°C.
Prepare the environment and get ready before you start.
- Close open windows. Wind or drafts can introduce microorganisms that can contaminate the Mondo® ‘Cambodia’ XL mushroom cultivation kit.
- After removing the granule container from its packaging, place it on a disinfected surface. If the surface is not clean, microorganisms can attach themselves to the culture container, grow inside the Mondo® ‘Cambodia’ XL Mushroom Culture Kit and infect the culture container.
- Be sure to work with clean hands and arms. We recommend using surgical gloves or a suitable disinfectant when working with the kit. Wear a mask to avoid breathing into the culture bag and cake.
Start the procedure
- Fill the capsule with fresh drinking water. Close the culture reservoir tightly and soak for 12 hours.
- After 12 hours, drain excess water from the culture reservoir.
- Place the culture dish in a large culture bag. The open end of the bag should point upwards.
- Remove the lid from the culture reservoir. Rinse the lid and store it in a zip-lock bag for future use. Place the bag with the lid in a cardboard box.
- Fold the open end of the large culture bag in half; do not cover the micron filter.
- Place the reusable yellow seal over the fold to keep the bag closed. The Mondo® ‘Cambodia’ XL mushroom growing kit is now ready to grow.
- Place the Mondo® ‘Cambodia’ XL mushroom growing kit in the cardboard box, on top of the ziplock bag and lid.
Temperature
The ideal temperature is 24°C. The temperature should not fall below 18°C and should not rise above 29°C. To prevent the temperature from dropping below 18°C, a thermometer can be used to maintain the ideal temperature. A thermometer is indispensable in winter or in colder parts of the world.
The light
The Mondo® magic ‘Cambodia’ XL mushroom growing kit only needs light to bring the mycelium to the surface.
Only then will the mushrooms grow. A few hours of fluorescent/artificial or indirect sunlight per day is more than enough. Direct sunlight kills the mycelium, so avoid exposing the growing kit to direct sunlight.
Water / turbidity
The day after starting the process, start spraying. Open the grow bag and remove the reusable yellow seal. Do not spray the cake directly, but once on each side of the bag.
Spray four times a day. Spraying also allows fresh oxygen to circulate in the bag. Close the bag immediately after spraying with a reusable yellow seal.
Sponges
If conditions are ideal, the first small mushrooms (spikes) appear within 5 to 16 days. This also depends on the variety. Some varieties of Cubensis grow more slowly than others.
Cultivation
The mushrooms grow in clusters. They can be small or large clusters. This depends entirely on the variety. This growth is called “blushing”. Mushrooms hardly ever ripen at the same time.
It is possible to have more than one bud on a cluster. The first two shoots are the largest. As more shoots appear, they are smaller than the previous ones.
Selection
When the veil between the cap and the stem is torn, the mushroom is ripe and ready to be picked. Do not wait any longer. Put on surgical gloves or disinfect your hands, wrists and forearms.
Pick the ripe mushrooms and let the rest continue to grow. Remove the mushrooms from the pulp by holding the base of the mushroom between thumb and forefinger.
Slowly turn your hand clockwise until the mushroom comes out. Do not pull the mushroom. You risk damaging and killing the mycelium. When you have collected most of the large mushrooms, don’t forget to pick the smaller mushrooms and spines.
Side cultivation of mushrooms
Mushrooms grow where there is light and little resistance to intrusion. As the sides of the cake are illuminated by light, mushrooms can also grow there.
Coping with this situation can be difficult and not always effective. Some growers wrap the sides of the box in aluminium foil to keep them dark, but this does not always work well.
It is possible to pick mushrooms from these sides just before dipping the batch.
Keep your hands clean! Take the growing container out of the bag and place it upside down in your other hand. Shake the plastic container so that the mixture flows into your hand. You can place the plastic container on a disinfectant surface.
Now that your hand is free, you can pick mushrooms from the sides of the cake. When you have picked all the mushrooms, put the cake back in its original place in the plastic box and continue with the dipping process.
dipping
When all the mushrooms have been picked, prepare the whole cake for another wash. Again using disinfected hands or gloves, remove the culture plate from the large culture bag. Fill the plate with fresh drinking water. Remove the lid of the ziplock bag and use it to seal the culture plate.
Wrap the sealed culture plate in a dip bag or a clean plastic bag from the supermarket. Close it tightly and store it for 12 hours in the refrigerator (between 2 °C and 8 °C).
This is called the soaking process. The water is absorbed by the dough and prepares it for the next water absorption.
During soaking, you can hang the culture bag with the micrometric filter upside down to dry. Remember to hang the bag upside down to prevent microorganisms from entering the bag.
Many growers prefer to use new, unused bags after each growing cycle. Remove the grow bag from the refrigerator after 12 hours and unpack it.
Rinsing after
Continue steps 3-7 in the same way as at the beginning of the process. A few days later, the new colour will be visible.
With a Mondo® ‘Cambogia’ XL Magic mushroom growing kit you can grow at least 2 or 3 sprouts. Experienced growers can get more sprouts with a kit.
At the end of the
After the second germination, for at least three weeks or when the Mondo® ‘Cambogia’ XL Magic cultivation kit turns green, red, grey or yellow, the cultivation kit should be discarded.
A colour change indicates that there is a different fungus or bacteria in the culture kit.
The Mondo® ‘Cambogia’ XL Magic culture kit no longer produces mushrooms, so throw it away.
Seeds
If you take too long to pick the mushrooms, they will release spores. The spores turn the cake and mushrooms black or purple, while other varieties of Cubensis turn red or brown.
This is not a problem, but it is not very pretty. When the mushrooms release their spores, they also start to decompose, which causes their active ingredients to break down. The mushrooms lose some of their potency.
